These Air Fryer Brownies are a quick and delicious treat, combining rich chocolate flavor with a perfectly gooey center and slightly crisp edges. Made with simple ingredients and cooked conveniently in an air fryer, they are the ideal dessert for any chocolate lover craving a homemade indulgence in just over half an hour.

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus more for topping)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a small heat-safe pan that fits inside your air fryer basket with cooking spray and set it aside to ensure the brownies won’t stick.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter in 30-second increments at 50% power, stirring occasionally until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Add Cocoa Powder: Whisk the unsweetened cocoa powder into the melted chocolate mixture and set it aside to cool slightly while you prepare the rest of the batter.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 330°F (165°C) to get it ready for baking.
  5. Mix Egg and Sugar: In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, room temperature egg, and vanilla extract until well combined and slightly frothy for a light texture.
  6. Combine Chocolate Mixture: Pour the slightly cooled chocolate-butter mixture into the egg mixture and whisk thoroughly until fully incorporated.
  7. Add Dry Ingredients: Fold in the all-purpose flour and pinch of salt carefully using a spatula until just combined to avoid overmixing and keep the brownies tender.
  8. Top with Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top of the batter for extra melty pockets of chocolate in your brownies.
  9. Transfer Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared greased pan, spreading it evenly.
  10. Air Fry: Place the pan into the air fryer basket and air fry for 22 to 25 minutes. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick into the outer edges; it should come out with dry crumbs. Note that the center will remain slightly gooey but will firm up as it cools.

Notes

  • The center of the brownies will be soft and gooey after air frying but will set more as they cool.
  • Ensure your pan fits inside the air fryer basket to cook evenly and safely.
  • Use room temperature egg for better batter consistency.
  • Do not overmix the batter once the flour is added to keep the brownies tender.
  • Adjust air frying time slightly depending on your air fryer model and pan size.
