Deliciously tangy and sweet balsamic glazed chicken wings marinated in a flavorful blend of balsamic vinegar, garlic, Italian seasoning, and brown sugar, then oven-baked to perfection and topped with a thickened balsamic glaze. Perfect as a savory appetizer or a main dish served with rice or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 1 lb chicken wings

Marinade

  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • ½ cup cooking oil (vegetable oil, avocado oil, etc.)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

Glaze

  • Remaining marinade from above
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Optional Garnish

  • Chopped green onion
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together 1 cup balsamic vinegar, ½ cup cooking oil, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning, ¼ cup brown sugar, ¼ tsp salt, and ¼ tsp ground black pepper until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Chicken Wings: Place the 1 lb chicken wings in a large bowl and pour the marinade over them. Toss the wings to coat evenly with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, stirring occasionally to ensure even coating.
  3. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easier cleanup.
  4. Bake the Chicken Wings: Arrange the marinated chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet along with the marinade. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes until wings are fully cooked and nicely caramelized on the outside.
  5. Make the Balsamic Glaze: While the wings bake, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan. Stir in 1 tsp cornstarch to the liquid. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook the sauce, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until it thickens to a glaze consistency. Remove from heat.
  6. Serve: Transfer the baked chicken wings to a serving bowl. Drizzle the thickened balsamic glaze over the wings. Optionally, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately alongside rice, roasted vegetables, or quinoa for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Marinating overnight enhances the flavor and tenderness of the wings.
  • Line your baking sheet for easy cleanup and to prevent wings from sticking.
  • If you prefer crispier wings, broil them for the last 3-5 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  • The balsamic glaze can also be used as a dipping sauce.
  • Adjust seasoning such as salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
