Ingredients

Chicken and Seasonings

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1 ¼ cups (290 g) mayonnaise
  • ⅔ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Toss chicken with seasonings. In a large bowl, combine the cubed chicken breasts with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Toss thoroughly to ensure each piece is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  2. Thread chicken onto skewers. Take the soaked wooden skewers and carefully thread 4 to 5 pieces of the seasoned chicken onto each skewer, ensuring the pieces are evenly spaced for even cooking.
  3. Make bang bang sauce. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey until smooth and well combined. This sauce will total about 1 ¾ cups.
  4. Brush sauce over chicken. Divide the bang bang sauce into two halves. Use one half to brush generously over the skewered chicken, coating each piece thoroughly for maximum flavor.
  5. Prepare air fryer. Place the coated chicken skewers in a single layer inside the basket of your air fryer. If your air fryer basket is small, cook the skewers in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Air fry the chicken. Cook the skewers at 400°F (204°C) for 11 to 12 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Apply reserved sauce and serve. Once cooked, transfer the chicken skewers to a serving plate and drizzle or brush them with the remaining reserved bang bang sauce. Serve immediately while hot for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Soaking wooden skewers prevents them from burning in the air fryer.
  • Adjust the amount of Sriracha in the sauce to control the spiciness.
  • Ensure chicken pieces are evenly cut to promote even cooking.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on the brand and size of your air fryer; use a meat thermometer for precision.
  • Can be served with a side of steamed vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
