A fresh and elegant appetizer featuring juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mini mozzarella balls, and fragrant basil leaves threaded onto skewers, drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and tangy balsamic reduction, and finished with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper for a perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 24 cherry tomatoes
  • 12 mini mozzarella balls
  • 24 fresh basil leaves
  • Extra-virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Balsamic reduction (for drizzling)
  • Sea salt (to taste)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Wash the cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves thoroughly and pat them dry. Drain the mini mozzarella balls from their liquid.
  2. Assemble the skewers: Thread one cherry tomato, one mini mozzarella ball, and one basil leaf onto each mini skewer or toothpick. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  3. Dress the skewers: Arrange the skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil evenly over each skewer.
  4. Add balsamic reduction: Lightly drizzle balsamic reduction over the skewers to add a sweet and tangy flavor contrast.
  5. Season: Sprinkle sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the assembled skewers to taste.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately as a fresh, bite-sized appetizer, or refrigerate briefly before serving to enhance flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe cherry tomatoes for the best flavor and texture.
  • If balsamic reduction is not available, you can make your own by simmering balsamic vinegar until it thickens to a syrup consistency.
  • These skewers are best served fresh but can be prepared up to 1 hour in advance and kept chilled.
  • For an extra flavor twist, consider adding a  drizzle of pesto.
