A refreshing and tangy Cherry Lime Smoothie made with tart frozen cherries, fresh lime juice and zest, creamy Greek yogurt, and naturally sweetened with medjool dates. This smoothie is creamy, slightly tart, and perfect for a nutritious breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Fruits and Flavorings

  • 1 cup frozen cherries (preferably tart)
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 large pitted medjool dates

Dairy and Liquids

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ to ½ cup dairy free milk (almond milk recommended), plus more as needed

Other

  • ½ cup ice

Instructions

  1. Soak Dates: Soak the pitted medjool dates in 1 cup of very warm water for at least 5 minutes to soften them for easier blending.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: While the dates are soaking, gather and measure out all other ingredients including frozen cherries, lime zest, lime juice, Greek yogurt, vanilla, milk, and ice.
  3. Blend Smoothie: Add the softened dates (drained), frozen cherries, lime zest, lime juice, Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, dairy free milk, and ice to a high-powered blender.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Blend all ingredients on high speed until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
  5. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use tart cherries for a more tangy flavor; sweet cherries can be used but will alter the taste.
  • Adjust the amount of dairy free milk to achieve your preferred smoothie thickness.
  • Medjool dates provide natural sweetness; soak them well for easier blending.
  • Optional add-ins like spinach, protein powder, or chia seeds can be added when blending for extra nutrition.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute Greek yogurt with plant-based yogurt.
