This luscious Chocolate Whipped Cream is a quick and easy way to add a rich, creamy chocolate flavor to desserts. Made with cold heavy cream, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, it whips up in minutes to soft and then stiff peaks, perfect for topping cakes, pies, hot drinks, or enjoyed on its own.

Ingredients

Whipped Cream Base

  • 360 ml Heavy Cream (double cream), cold

Flavorings

  • 3 tbsp Powdered Sugar (icing sugar), sifted
  • 3 tbsp Cocoa Powder, sifted
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cream: Start by whipping the cold heavy cream on medium speed using an electric mixer until soft peaks form. This means when you lift the beaters, the cream should hold its shape but the tip curls over.
  2. Add flavorings: Gently add the sifted powdered sugar, sifted cocoa powder, and vanilla extract to the whipped cream.
  3. Combine and whip to stiffness: Use a balloon whisk to mix the ingredients by hand, then continue whipping the mixture to stiff peaks. Be careful not to overwhip, or the cream may turn grainy and begin to separate.

Notes

  • Make sure the heavy cream is very cold before whipping for best volume and texture.
  • Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to avoid lumps and ensure smooth blending.
  • Do not overwhip after adding sugar and cocoa, as it can cause the cream to curdle.
  • This whipped cream is best used immediately but can be refrigerated for a few hours; re-whip lightly if it loosens.
  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for better chocolate flavor.
