This delightful Creamy Mayan Mocha is a cozy, rich beverage blending strong coffee or a caffeine-free Teeccino alternative with creamy almond and coconut milk, cocoa powder, spices, and a hint of sweetness. Topped with coconut whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate, and cinnamon, it's perfect for a comforting treat any time of day.

Ingredients

Beverage Base

  • 2/3 cup strong brewed coffee or Teeccino*
  • 1/2 cup plain unsweetened almond milk (or oat or cashew milk)
  • 2 ½ Tbsp canned full-fat coconut milk (adds creaminess or other rich, thick milk of choice)

Flavorings & Sweeteners

  • 1 tsp cocoa powder*
  • 1 ½ - 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tiny pinch cayenne pepper (plus more to taste)

Optional

  • 1-2 scoops collagen or vegan collagen
  • Coconut whipped cream (for topping)
  • Shaved dark chocolate (for topping)
  • Cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Coffee or Teeccino: Brew 1 ½ - 2 teaspoons of instant coffee in 2/3 cup boiling water, stirring to dissolve fully, or make strong coffee using your preferred method to yield 2/3 cup total. For a caffeine-free option, steep 1 tea bag of Teeccino Dandelion Dark Roast in 2/3 cup boiling water for at least 10 minutes, shaking the bag occasionally to extract richer flavor.
  2. Add to Frother or Saucepan: Pour the brewed coffee or Teeccino into a milk frother or a small saucepan. A frother is preferred to achieve a frothy, coffee shop-style texture.
  3. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the almond milk, canned full-fat coconut milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and optional collagen to the frother or saucepan.
  4. Warm and Froth the Mixture: If using a frother, turn it on to its warmest setting and let it froth until hot and foamy. If using a saucepan, whisk the mixture to combine and heat over low to medium heat until warmed through. Note that this method won’t produce froth.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the warm mocha into a cup and enjoy immediately, topped with coconut whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate, and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon for added decadence. Best served fresh.

Notes

  • Teeccino is a herbal coffee alternative free of caffeine, perfect for a Mayan Mocha twist.
  • You can substitute almond milk with oat or cashew milk as per preference.
  • Adjust the maple syrup for sweetness to your taste.
  • The cayenne pepper adds a subtle warmth; add more if you like a spicier kick.
  • Adding collagen is optional; choose vegan collagen for a plant-based option.
  • Using a milk frother enhances texture, but warming on the stovetop works fine too.
