This creamy spinach dip is a warm and cheesy appetizer perfect for gatherings or casual snacking. Made with sour cream, cream cheese, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan cheeses, combined with hearty spinach and flavorful seasonings, it’s baked to bubbly perfection and served hot.

Ingredients

Dip Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 10 ounces frozen spinach, thawed, rinsed, and drained
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
  • 1 pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 pinch black pepper, to taste
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray an 8x8 inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking, then set it aside.
  2. Mix base ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, blend the sour cream and softened cream cheese together until the mixture is smooth and thick, ensuring no lumps remain.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients: Add the thawed and drained spinach, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, shredded Parmesan cheese, dried minced onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the bowl. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer to baking dish: Pour the prepared spinach dip mixture into the greased baking dish and smooth the top into an even layer to ensure uniform baking.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the dip is heated through and the cheese has melted, becoming bubbly.
  6. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with chips, bread, or vegetable sticks as desired for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure to fully drain and rinse the spinach to avoid excess moisture in the dip.
  • Use softened cream cheese to ensure easier mixing and a smoother texture.
  • You can substitute fresh spinach by steaming and draining it well, using the same amount by weight.
  • Adjust seasoning such as salt and red pepper flakes to your taste preferences.
  • This dip is best served warm for the melty cheese effect but can be refrigerated and reheated gently.
