This Easy Deviled Eggs recipe offers a creamy, tangy filling made with crème fraîche, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard, topped with fresh dill. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, these deviled eggs are simple to prepare and deliver classic flavors with a smooth texture.

Ingredients

Eggs

  • 6 eggs, rinsed and dried

Filling

  • 3 tablespoons crème fraîche
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper

Topping

  • 12 small dill fronds

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs: Add the eggs to a small saucepan and cover with water, ensuring the water is about 1 inch above the eggs. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat, then immediately remove the pan from heat, cover it, and let the eggs sit for 10 to 12 minutes to cook through.
  2. Cool the Eggs: Transfer the cooked eggs to an ice water bath to cool completely, which takes about 5 minutes. This step helps stop the cooking process and makes peeling easier.
  3. Peel and Halve: Once cooled, carefully peel the eggshells off and slice each egg in half lengthwise. Gently remove the yolks from the whites and place the yolks in a small bowl.
  4. Prepare the Filling: Mash the egg yolks thoroughly with a fork until very fine. Add the mayonnaise, crème fraîche, Dijon mustard, and salt, then stir vigorously until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Adjust salt to taste if needed.
  5. Fill the Egg Whites: Spoon or pipe the creamy yolk filling back into the hollowed egg white halves until all halves are evenly filled.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle cracked black pepper on top of the filling and garnish each deviled egg with a small dill frond for a fresh, aromatic finish. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Using crème fraîche adds a tangy richness to the filling, but sour cream can be substituted if unavailable.
  • For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old rather than very fresh eggs.
  • You can pipe the filling using a piping bag or a plastic bag with a corner cut off to create a neat presentation.
  • Deviled eggs are best eaten within a day or two of preparation for optimal freshness.
  • Adjust seasoning to your preference, adding more mustard or mayonnaise for different flavor and texture balances.
