These Frozen Chocolate Banana Yogurt Clusters are a delightful and healthy treat combining ripe bananas, creamy Greek yogurt, and rich chocolate. Perfectly portioned and easy to make, these clusters offer a sweet, refreshing dessert or snack that balances natural sweetness with indulgent chocolate coating. Optional peanut butter adds a nutty twist, while a sprinkle of flaky sea salt enhances the chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

Banana Yogurt Mixture

  • 3-4 cups ripe but firm banana slices
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1-4 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust for desired sweetness)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (optional)

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Banana Yogurt Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir well until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Gently fold in the banana slices, making sure each piece is lightly coated. If using, add the creamy peanut butter and mix carefully to distribute evenly.
  2. Form Clusters: Line a cupcake mold with paper liners. Using a small spoon, scoop roughly 3 banana slices per cluster, placing each spoonful into the lined cupcake cups. Ensure clusters are compacted slightly to hold their shape. Place the mold in the freezer and allow to freeze for 1 to 2 hours, until firm.
  3. Melt Chocolate and Coconut Oil: While the clusters freeze, combine the chopped semi-sweet or dark chocolate with the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in short bursts of 20-30 seconds, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Dip Clusters in Chocolate: Remove the banana clusters from the freezer. Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each frozen cluster into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Place the chocolate-covered clusters on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set.
  5. Add Finishing Touches and Freeze: If desired, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over each chocolate-coated cluster to enhance flavor. Return the baking sheet to the freezer and freeze for an additional 2 hours or until the chocolate is fully hardened.
  6. Serve: Once completely frozen, remove clusters from the freezer and let them sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes to slightly soften. Enjoy immediately as a refreshing and healthy frozen treat.

Notes

  • Use firm but ripe bananas for best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the honey or maple syrup amount.
  • Peanut butter is optional but adds a creamy, nutty flavor.
  • Using high-quality chocolate enhances the overall taste.
  • Store leftover clusters in an airtight container in the freezer.
  • Allow clusters to sit a few minutes after removing from freezer for easier biting.
