This comforting and vibrant Golden Latte recipe combines warming spices like turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and optional black pepper with creamy milk and natural sweeteners to create a soothing, antioxidant-rich beverage perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Spices

  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of black pepper (optional)
  • 1 pinch of ground ginger

Sweeteners and Flavoring

  • 2 tsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Milk

  • 500 ml semi-skimmed milk, almond milk, or coconut milk

Instructions

  1. Combine spices: Place the ground turmeric, cinnamon, ground ginger, and black pepper (if using) into a medium saucepan.
  2. Add sweeteners and vanilla: Stir in the maple syrup (or honey) and vanilla extract with the spices to begin infusing the flavors.
  3. Pour in milk: Pour 500 ml of your chosen milk (semi-skimmed, almond, or coconut) over the spice and sweetener mixture, then stir gently with a tablespoon to combine evenly.
  4. Heat mixture: Warm the mixture over medium heat for about 5 minutes, carefully preventing it from boiling to preserve the delicate flavors and nutrients in the turmeric.
  5. Serve: Pour the warmed golden latte into cups and enjoy immediately for a cozy, nourishing drink.

Notes

  • Do not allow the milk to boil to avoid a bitter taste and skin formation.
  • Adjust the sweetener to your preferred level of sweetness or substitute with a sugar-free syrup if desired.
  • Add a teaspoon of coconut oil or butter for enhanced creaminess and absorption of turmeric’s active compounds.
  • This latte can be made vegan by choosing almond or coconut milk and using maple syrup instead of honey.
  • Black pepper enhances the bioavailability of curcumin, the key compound in turmeric, so include it if possible.
