This quick and flavorful Ground Turkey Stir Fry combines lean ground turkey with a savory sauce made from soy sauce, hoisin, and toasted sesame oil. Perfect for a fast, healthy weeknight dinner, it delivers a balanced mix of taste and nutrition in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tsp water (for mixing with cornstarch)

Main Ingredient

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, water, toasted sesame oil, and garlic powder until well combined. In a separate small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of water until smooth, then set both mixtures aside.
  2. Cook the Turkey: Heat a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground turkey and cook, crumbling it with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Combine and Simmer: Stir the prepared soy sauce mixture into the cooked turkey. Bring it to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: Add the cornstarch and water slurry to the skillet, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the turkey evenly. Then remove the pan from heat.
  5. Serve: Serve the ground turkey stir fry hot over steamed rice or cauliflower rice, and add your choice of vegetables for a balanced meal.

Notes

  • The cornstarch mixture is optional but recommended to achieve a silky, thickened sauce.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas during the turkey cooking step for more nutrition and color.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce the sodium content.
  • Ground chicken or pork can be used as a substitute for turkey if preferred.
