Ingredients

Frozen Yogurt Base

  • 1 ⅔ cups (13 fl oz/400 ml) heavy whipping cream
  • ⅔ cup (5 oz/142 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 ¾ cup (14 oz/395 g) unsweetened Greek yogurt

For Plain Frozen Yogurt

  • 8 frozen yogurt cubes (from base)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened plain yogurt

For Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

  • 8 frozen yogurt cubes (from base)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon milk

For Strawberry Frozen Yogurt

  • 8 frozen yogurt cubes (from base)
  • 2 large (or 3 small) fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Make the Frozen Yogurt Base: Pour the heavy cream and granulated sugar into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Stir constantly to dissolve the sugar fully, which takes about 5 minutes, ensuring a smooth, uniform mixture without burning.
  2. Cool the Mixture: Transfer the cream and sugar mixture into a medium heat-proof jug with a pour spout and let it cool for about 10 minutes to prevent damaging the yogurt's live cultures when mixed.
  3. Combine Yogurt: Stir the Greek yogurt into the cooled cream mixture until fully smooth and consistent, creating your frozen yogurt base.
  4. Freeze the Base: Pour the mixture evenly into two ice cube trays and freeze for at least 4 hours to solidify. These frozen cubes can be stored for up to 4 weeks.
  5. Prepare Plain Frozen Yogurt Soft Serve: Place 8 frozen yogurt cubes and 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt into a food processor. Blend until the mixture reaches a soft serve consistency, scraping down the sides as needed. Serve immediately or freeze for up to 1 hour for firmer texture.
  6. Prepare Chocolate Frozen Yogurt Soft Serve: Combine 8 frozen yogurt cubes, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, and 1 tablespoon milk in the food processor. Blend until smooth and soft serve-like. Scrape the sides to mix evenly. Enjoy immediately or freeze up to 1 hour.
  7. Prepare Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Soft Serve: Add 8 frozen yogurt cubes and 2 large (or 3 small) fresh strawberries to the food processor. Process until creamy and smooth, scraping down the bowl as necessary. Serve right away or freeze for no more than 1 hour for the ideal soft serve texture.

Notes

  • For best results, use full-fat Greek yogurt and heavy whipping cream to ensure creamy texture.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying sugar quantity to preference during base preparation.
  • Scraping down the food processor bowl is crucial for an even blend and smooth texture.
  • Frozen yogurt cubes can be stored in the freezer for up to 4 weeks — thaw only as needed.
  • Consume soft serve immediately or freeze for no longer than 1 hour to maintain perfect texture.
  • Fresh fruit makes a vibrant addition; ensure strawberries are ripe and hulled.
  • For chocolate version, use unsweetened cocoa powder for a rich, not overly sweet flavor.
