Roasted Parmesan Green Beans are a delicious and easy side dish featuring fresh green beans coated in a crispy Parmesan cheese and panko breadcrumb mixture, then oven-roasted to tender perfection. This simple recipe adds a savory, crunchy twist to green beans, making it a perfect accompaniment for a wide variety of meals.

Ingredients

Green Beans

  • 1 lb fresh green beans

Coating Mixture

  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • 2 TBSP grated or shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 TBSP panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (or substitute with fresh roasted garlic)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it's hot enough for roasting the green beans to a tender, slightly crispy texture.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh green beans, olive oil, grated Parmesan cheese, panko bread crumbs, salt, and garlic powder. Toss everything well so the green beans are evenly coated with the flavorful mixture.
  3. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the coated green beans in a single, even layer on a large rimmed baking sheet. An even layer helps them roast uniformly and get crispy without steaming.
  4. Roast: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 15 to 20 minutes. About halfway through cooking, stir the green beans to promote even roasting and prevent burning, then continue until they are tender and golden.
  5. Serve: Transfer the roasted green beans to a serving platter. For extra flavor, sprinkle a little more Parmesan cheese on top before serving. Enjoy as a savory, crunchy side dish with your meal.

Notes

  • You can swap garlic powder with fresh roasted garlic for a more intense garlic flavor.
  • Make sure to spread green beans in a single layer to ensure even roasting and crispiness.
  • Panko bread crumbs add extra crunch but can be omitted for a lighter version.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled meats, chicken, or fish.
  • For a low sodium version, reduce or omit the salt and rely on Parmesan for seasoning.
