These Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs are an elegant and flavorful appetizer perfect for brunch, parties, or holiday gatherings. Creamy egg yolks are blended smoothly with smoked salmon, tangy horseradish, and lemon juice, then piped into perfectly cooked egg whites and garnished with savory Everything Bagel Seasoning and fresh dill for a sophisticated twist on a classic deviled egg.

Ingredients

Eggs

  • 6 large eggs

Filling

  • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 ounce smoked salmon
  • 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Garnish

  • Small, thin slices of smoked salmon
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning, for sprinkling
  • Fresh dill sprigs

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water so that the water level is about 1 inch above the eggs. Bring the water to a boil and let the eggs cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Simmer off-heat: Remove the pan from the heat, cover it, and let the eggs sit in the hot water for 13 minutes to finish cooking gently.
  3. Prepare ice bath: While the eggs are cooking, fill a large bowl with 2 cups of ice and 2 cups of cold water to create an ice bath.
  4. Cool the eggs: Transfer the cooked eggs to the ice bath and let them chill for 13 minutes until cold throughout.
  5. Peel the eggs: Once cooled, crack the eggshells gently and peel off the shells completely. Slice each egg in half lengthwise.
  6. Remove yolks and blend: Carefully scoop out the cooked yolks and place them in a mini food processor. Add mayonnaise, smoked salmon, prepared horseradish, and lemon juice. Pulse several times until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  7. Fill the egg whites: You can spoon the filling into the hollowed egg white halves, or for a more elegant presentation, transfer the filling to a piping bag fitted with a large tip and pipe the filling into each egg white half.
  8. Garnish and serve: Top each deviled egg with a small piece of smoked salmon, a sprinkle of Everything Bagel Seasoning, and a fresh sprig of dill. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use the freshest eggs possible for the best taste and texture.
  • If you don’t have a mini food processor, a fork and whisk can be used to blend the filling thoroughly but may not be as smooth.
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning can be homemade or store-bought and typically includes sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt.
  • These deviled eggs can be prepared up to 1 day in advance; keep covered and refrigerated until serving.
  • Adjust horseradish amount to taste for more or less heat.
