A fresh, vibrant mango salsa made with ripe mangoes, aromatic herbs, and a hint of spice. This quick and easy recipe is perfect as a dip, topping for grilled meats, or a refreshing side that brings bright tropical flavors to your table in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Fruits and Vegetables

  • 2 ripe mangos, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion or shallot, finely chopped (preferably red onion)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped (substitute habanero for extra heat)
  • ½ bell pepper, chopped
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Seasonings and Oils

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 lime, juiced (about 2 ½ teaspoons juice)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt or pink salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients. In a mixing bowl, add the diced ripe mangos, finely chopped onion or shallot, jalapeno pepper, chopped bell pepper, chopped fresh cilantro, and minced garlic.
  2. Add Seasonings and Mix. Pour in the 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, squeeze the juice of one lime into the bowl, then sprinkle in the sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Gently mix all the ingredients until well combined to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Serve or Store. Serve the mango salsa immediately to enjoy its fresh flavors, or transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days to let the tastes deepen. Stir gently before serving when stored.

Notes

  • For more heat, substitute jalapeno with habanero pepper cautiously.
  • This salsa is versatile and can be used as a topping for grilled chicken, fish, or tacos.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best bright acidity.
  • Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Adjust salt and pepper according to taste preference.
