Garnished with sautéed scallions, garlic, crunchy almonds, and red pepper flakes, this dish offers a delightful balance of flavors and textures, perfect for serving with crostini at any gathering.

Ingredients

Whipped Feta Dip

  • 8 oz block feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Topping

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bunch scallions, chopped (stringy tops discarded)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup almonds, chopped small
  • 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup hot honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Whipped Feta: In a food processor, combine the feta cheese, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Process the mixture until smooth and fluffy, scraping down the sides as needed. Add salt and pepper, then stir gently to combine thoroughly.
  2. Sauté Scallions and Garlic: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped scallions and minced garlic. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is browned and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Dip: Transfer the whipped feta mixture into a serving bowl. Spoon the sautéed scallions and garlic along with any remaining oil on top of the feta dip evenly.
  4. Add Crunch and Heat: Sprinkle the chopped almonds and red pepper flakes over the top of the dip. Drizzle the hot honey evenly to add a sweet and spicy finish.
  5. Serve: Serve the whipped feta with hot honey immediately alongside crostini or your choice of crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • For a milder dip, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes or omit completely.
  • Use fresh, high-quality feta for the best flavor and texture.
  • Make the dip ahead and store covered in the refrigerator; add warm scallions, garlic, and toppings just before serving.
  • Substitute almonds with walnuts or pistachios for a different nutty crunch.
  • Hot honey can be homemade by infusing honey with chili flakes or purchased pre-made.
